In addition to being found guilty of murder, Young was found guilty of all other charges in the case as well, including aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, felonious assault, tampering with evidence, burglary and grand theft of a firearm. The final two charges each carried a firearm specification, meaning Young used a firearm in commission of the crimes.

Fire Chief James Rader and road foreman and fire medic Michael Foreman were found to have been "improperly compensated" to nearly $27,000. Nearly $4,000 is still outstanding from Foreman.

LaGrange Township former employees still owe nearly $4,000 in improper compensation received, according to a report filed Thursday by the Auditor of State's Office. In total, the auditor's office found $26,979.13 in findings for recovery.

The work is part of a $498,000 grant the city received from the Ohio Department of Transportation for the Safe Routes to School program in 2023. Safe Routes to School provides resources, technical assistance and project funding to help students in kindergarten through 12th grade walk or ride their bike to school.

Work includes removal and replacement of sidewalks past their useful life, upgrading noncompliant curb ramps to current ADA standards and improving crossings at intersections.

In 2023, a jury found Gregory Ralston, 34, guilty of possessing and selling fentanyl, and he was sentenced by U.S. District Judge John Adams. In August, the U.S. 6th District Court of Appeals ruled that a change in federal sentencing guidelines meant Ralston was entitled to a ruling on whether he deserved a sentence reduction.

Gregory Ralston, 34, was found guilty by a jury of possessing and selling fentanyl and sentenced to prison by U.S. District Judge John Adams in 2023.

The majority of the $456,752.67 in grants from the OneOhio Recovery Foundation, or $271,612.67, will go toward Dual Diagnosis Intensive Outpatient Program, or IOP, services. Another $95,040 will be used to help remove transportation barriers for those being helped, while another $90,100 will be used to expand access to care during weekend and evening hours.

The proceeds from the bonds will be loaned to Saint Therese, which will use it to refund a portion of a $25 million loan from Minnesota-based Bremer Bank. The company will then eventually repay the loan from the Port Authority.

The company, a subsidiary of Minnesota-based Catholic aging care and services provider Saint Therese Communities, closed its purchase in December of St. Mary of the Woods, a senior living facility on Detroit Road in Avon.

“We’re fully on schedule for our grand opening,” said Judy Key, Lorain County fairgrounds facility manager, which will take place at the start of this year’s Lorain County fair. “There’s been a lot of planning to make this new structure as versatile as possible.”

The Lorain County Fairgrounds's new Ross Exposition Center is nearing completion, officials said, as they met Wednesday night for Main Street Wellington's annual meeting.
