Precipitation risk for Arizona for Sunday overnight through Monday, 12-11 through 12-12-2022 -

AZWF risk model does show the Mogollon Rim areas having a higher risk, and all of it will be snow. I'm getting 6-12" for Flagstaff with the passage of this cold storm, snow through Payson as well, and even snow all the way to Prescott to squeeze an inch there. Hey, even Sedona will get in on the action as well the Grand Canyon.

Rainfall for the lower terrain through the metros of Phoenix/Tucson and in-between.

I will have the entire snow, rain, wind AZWF model suite on Friday morning. I will be posting it then and just hope it works out well because I will be in Northern California this weekend on business.

Arizona Weather Force has issued a High Heat Warning out ahead of a ridge of high pressure that will develop over the region starting mid-week and lasting into the weekend for the west and southwest half of the state, including the Colorado River Valley to the Phoenix Valley. Here at Arizona Weather Force, temperatures are indeed worked on, but what is even more worked on is the heat risk model. We all know temperature is but just a number, so I designed a way where you don’t just read a number, you read the effects it would have on the body. With this case, temperatures over 110F are likely again in the desert areas of Arizona, excluding Tucson.

A ridge of high pressure will develop over the region on Wednesday and Thursday, lasting through Saturday. Relative humidity levels are expected to plummet, and as a result the temperatures skyrocket to those excessive temperatures you know all so well when the monsoon is nearly non-existent. Usually these areas are use to it, but since it has been a cooler than normal summer on average, this high heat warning will go out to remind of such.

Discussion: First of all, the flood watch I issued for the metros of Phoenix/Tucson will effectively end tonight as activity starts to cease throughout today. The flood watch will however hang onto parts of Northwest Arizona as the easterly wave develops thunderstorms, severe, over the Grand Canyon later today. The flow out of the east-northeast will dive those into the CO River Valley's northern end mainly north of Needles, CA and South of Lake Meade, putting the areas I listed above in the severe thunderstorm watch in the target area. It does look like this time Bullhead City's forecast area will get the activity. This will cease over the early night hours, the main bulk of this being a window between 3pm and 8pm - Damaging winds at the center of this thunderstorm zone will be likely so if you need to bring anything in, do so now ...

ARIZONA: We start to calm down a bit for a few with only areas in SE state and the high terrain seeing activity... until the end of the month into the first week of August when activity in the metros will start to pick back up. So enjoy the break ...

July 19, 2021 Arizona Monsoon Flash Flood Warning Prediction Zones and Yuma Storm Discussion; Zoom In Maps Available

Discussion: First of all, Facebook looks to be throttling the Arizona Weather Force page if I post article links so that is why it is an image with a link embedded. They seem to show it to more newsfeeds. Again, another reason I stated one must be on the premium member e-mail alert system to receive this 100% There is no other way around it. Now for the forecast...

This is the experimental Flash Flood prediction model here at Arizona Weather Force. It only has two color values, Flash Flood Warning criteria, and High-Risk Flash Flood Warning. Consider it a prediction of where future issued flash flood warnings will be issued. It takes the amount of moisture vs strength of the storm and gives a flood threshold algorithm to give an idea of who will see what or what roads to avoid.

Today, it is clearly obvious that Phoenix will not see anything. Flagstaff's forecast area will get nailed, Prescott being surrounded, and there will be storms coming from the east through Tucson.

NOTE: This is for the peak daytime heating and not overnight. Also note that there is an area of disturbance that will cross Southern Arizona overnight tonight, hitting Yuma and the Central CO River Valley areas early Tuesday morning before or around sunrise. This will be monitored further and a thunderstorm watch will go out over the e-mail alert system if needed for those areas. So yes Yuma, you finally get some rainfall early Tuesday morning so enjoy that. Southeast Arizona experienced some good morning showers and thunderstorms. We will be slightly drying out a bit, but there is a potential of another round of showers and storms to impact the region later tonight. There is still an Active Flash Flood Watch for most of Southeast Arizona. Meaning: the ingredients for flash flooding are present, but waiting for a trigger, such as short-wave trough/upper-level disturbance.

Storms will be peppered across a lot of the state due to monsoon moisture still present, but more organized clusters in the metros will be developing, one such over Maricopa in Pinal County during the afternoon. .. the other from outflow with storms developing near Payson this evening, sending outflow south into the Eastern half of Maricopa County, includes Rio Verde / Carefree / Scottsdale / Mesa …

Storms in this area will be capable of strong winds up to 1 inch hail at times … and isolated severe will be possible …
