Electrofishing on the Elkhart River
We joined Elkhart’s aquatic biologist Daragh Deegan and his crew for some electrofishing on the Elkhart River today. The local waterways are doing well, Deegan said, and you can already tell that removing the low-head dam has made a positive difference for the aquatic life. We’ll have the story in tomorrow’s paper.
Protesters gather at the Elkhart County Health Department to show their displeasure with the decision to begin the school year virtually.
Officer James Ballard reads The Wonky Donkey
Police officer James Ballard normally reads to the kids at St. Paul's Preschool in Elkhart. But Officer Jim can't visit them right now, so he read The Wonky Donkey from his car, for us all to enjoy.
Officer Jim also asked kids to draw or color a police officer, firefighter, doctor or nurse. If anybody has drawings they would like to show us, please post them here.
Rod Roberson will be Elkhart’s next mayor. First African-American to hold the job.

Ice on the Elkhart River
It's a cold but beautiful day. At Studebaker Park, ice flowing down the Elkhart River is creating quite a bit of noise.
