Today, we honor Harriet Tubman, a beacon of courage and faith whose life exemplified the power of trusting God in the face of unimaginable challenges. Born into slavery, Harriet escaped to freedom, but she didn’t stop there—she felt called by God to return, risking her life to free others. Through the Underground Railroad, she led over 70 enslaved people to freedom, becoming known as the Moses of her people.
But did you know Harriet Tubman was also a spy, scout, and nurse during the Civil War? She was the first woman to lead a U.S. military operation, the Combahee River Raid, which freed over 700 enslaved people in one night!
💡 Fun Fact: Harriet Tubman had severe headaches and seizures from a head injury in her youth, yet she credited these struggles with helping her hear God’s voice more clearly. Her unwavering faith in His guidance carried her through danger, fear, and uncertainty.
As we reflect on her legacy, let’s remember her faith in action. Harriet Tubman teaches us that freedom is not just for ourselves—it’s something we fight for, even when it’s for others.

Jesus wasn't passive, He was bold as they come, but He always approached His Father before He took action. Just like I tell my kids, don't react, respond! Reacting often leads to something you didn't mean to happen. Responding takes thought and a plan of action. It's ok to be angry, that emotion when used righteously can change the course of nature itself. We have to be the change we want for our future, our children, our family members.
