Update from Elizabethtown Police Department:

***ROAD CONDITION UPDATE***

We’ve received substantial snowfall, and the precipitation has now switched to rain. With below freezing temperatures, the rain is freezing, creating hazardous road conditions.
City, county, and state road crews are working diligently, but despite their best efforts, road conditions remain poor and are rapidly getting worse.
Stay warm, stay safe, and avoid unnecessary travel. We’ll keep you updated as conditions change.

Here are some important tips from our friends at the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet:

❄️ Snow and ice are expected Sunday into Monday.
❄️ KYTC crews will be treating and clearing roads to keep routes passable.
❄️ If you see KYTC crews on the road, please give them space to work safely.
❄️Avoid travel. If you must be out, make sure you have an emergency car kit.
❄️Remember bridges/overpasses freeze faster than roads.
❄️Drive alert and slow down.

Stay safe out there, Wolf Country!

Snowfighters are out as a winter storm moves through western and central Kentucky, making for snowy travel lanes. Conditions are expected to worsen as snow and ice moves east. If you don’t have to be out, consider today a snow day and stay in! Less traffic means more room for our snowfighters and first responders to work safely. Check GoKY.ky.gov for traffic cams to monitor conditions.

WOLF WANTS TO KNOW:

Would you rather quit a job you hate with no backup plan or stick it out until you find another opportunity?

01/03/2025

Confidence continues to grow for a significant and impactful winter storm early Sunday morning into Monday midday. This storm will produce significant amounts of wintry precipitation from snow, sleet, freezing rain and for some, a period of rain. Uncertainty remains on the exact track of this storm and how four precipitation types will be distributed across the region. Because of this, detailed precipitation types and amounts are uncertain for any one location. However, heavy snow and ice are expected to cause hazardous travel conditions and scattered to numerous power outages in southern Indiana and portions of central Kentucky.

Precipitation is expected to start Sunday morning, mainly in the form of snow with a few locations receiving sleet. During the day Sunday, the precipitation will transition over to a wintry mix with mainly snow along and north of the I-64 corridor into southern Indiana, with the potential for significant icing over the northern half of Kentucky, mainly along and north of the Western Kentucky and Bluegrass Parkways. Further south towards the KY/TN border we will see snow, ice and even a transition over to rain for a time, especially along the KY/TN border.

Please keep in mind that as we get more data, and start to iron out the finer details, like snow and ice amounts, this forecast will likely start to change.

As they say… we gotta do it the right way, Hardin County!
