📢 Exciting news! 📢

IRE’s upcoming Indigenous student journalism workshop in Oklahoma City is taking place February 12-13, 2026. The workshop is designed for Indigenous students and students of all backgrounds attending TCUs, AANAPISIs, ANNHs and NASNTIs nationwide. Students will learn a variety of investigative skills including interviewing, accessing public information, and tapping into the power of data and AI. There is an optional half-day training and networking meet-and-greet on Thursday, Feb. 12 and a full day of sessions on Friday, Feb. 13.

Students do not have to be majoring in journalism, and they do not need to be local to Oklahoma City to attend. Thanks to the generous support of their sponsors, IRE is offering funding to help with registration and travel costs. They just got funding for 25 more fellowships and it's a first come, first serve on a rolling basis for those who qualify.

How students can attend:
To attend the workshop, students must apply for a scholarship. The deadline is rolling until the funding runs out, so they encourage students to apply as soon as possible. It takes 10 minutes! Apply here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd-HjHM0n6BYDeBxzylvejmlMfl5Axq3X2R8dFI7I4QUY9KRQ/viewform

About the workshop:
This workshop is the third in their series with the Rick Gevers-Karen Burns Diversity Endowed Fund for College Journalists. This fund was established to bring IRE training to HBCUs, HSIs and other campuses serving student journalists of color.
