02/17/2025

☃️Get ready for more snow and bitter cold! The National Weather Service of Wichita has issued a Winter Storm Warning for areas of Kansas that includes Butler County. The warning in effect from 12am tonight until 6am on Wednesday.
❄️You can expect light to moderate snow and intervals of heavy falling snow. Accumulations are expected to be between 4-8 inches with the most in southeast Kansas. Winds will gust up to 35mph.
🥶But that’s not all – an Extreme Cold Warning has been issued in effect from 6pm Tuesday until 12pm on Thursday. This means dangerously cold wind chills will be happening across the area, as cold as -20 and -25 degrees. These cold temps can cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes when skin is exposed. Bring your pets in and dress in thick layers when going outside.
🚦Remember to DRIVE SLOW during winter weather and leave extra lead time between yourself and other drivers. The roads can easily become slick if snow accumulates. Keep a flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. If you venture outdoors, make sure to dress in warm layers with gloves to protect skin and the possibility of frost bite.
🚗For the latest road conditions, call 511 or visit KanDrive.gov.
