The El Centro Police Department would like our community to know that we are aware of a planned protest scheduled this evening. We have met with the organizers of the event and we expect it to be a peaceful event. We stand in solidarity with those in condemning the action resulting in the death of George Floyd. Any such action at the events or social media which dilute their message and promote fear, is strongly discouraged. We urge calm and unity in light of events in other cities. We are a much stronger community than any negative message.
