WOW .... I have no control or ability to submit data from research I found in my parents boxes of data I inherited from my late Granpa & other family associates including Sinatra etc.
I have tried over the years to do research for the Grammy Museum who asked for some things I could bring in for their display back in 2013. I had never really gone into a deep internet dive about my late Granpa since my Dad never spoke as often as my late Momma who raved about the talent and kindness of Dan HORNSBY of Atlanta GA. My momma lived with the family there while my Papa was in flight Military Marines school in FL Then they traveled to Texas Ft Worth military base where my late older brother was born. Not meant to brag but I think my Hornsby family is amazingly talented since my brother was a great architect schooled at Frank Lloyd School of Architecture three different campuses with a one to one ratio of teacher to student at that time.
Oh my education was for a different purpose than music I believed growing up. I ended up finally accepting what God kept turning me into accepting by Deans of my Schools finding me paid work off campus or representing the schools or colleges as I was asked to play and sing. Being raised by former US Marine Corp parents who went into Federal Government work before I was born is probably why I always respected my elders when asked and positively replied.
So when I finally accepted the fact I worked full time making money making music with my guitar and multiple octave vocal work. I then eventually had investors want to pay for recordings. This I turned down many times even from a school I attended until I learned about the business of making recordings. In truth I didn't want anyone to waste their money and made sure after research learning no one would. But you may read about all this online posted years ago at the company I founded at cjp-nhrecords.com on the company story page on the website.
Now onto WHY I was knocked back on my heels recently, the other day, when I went surfing my Grandpa's name online (There are many who use the Hornsby name for maybe nefarious reasons) I try to review from time to time who may be using the Brand without permission. So I discovered the Wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Hornsby page had been edited and said my late grandpa founded "Hank Williams" and for those who know old country music you'd be going WOW as I did. I know how my Momma talked about the kindness and talents of my Grandpa but this maybe one for the books... oh yea... it's from a book someplace I guess.
So here I've posted it as all my family from Hornsby Aunts Uncles etc. have traveled on as the song I wrote speaks about. Enjoy and know I'm proud to have inherited the gifts and know I'm blessed knowing "God had a gentle hand in this" [lyrics of another NIKKI Hornsby song in 2003].
[[Just read on now if you want the cut & paste I did from Wikipedia.org:]]
Hornsby began his career as a talent scout with Columbia Records, RCA Victor Records and then worked for MGM, during which he looked for talented performers — often in the country and blues genres — and signed those he chose to a contract.[1] Hornsby discovered Hank Williams for MGM[1] and Gid Tanner and the Skillet Lickers,[1][5] Riley Puckett, Bessie Smith, Clarence Ashley, and Charlie Poole at Columbia.[1] In 1931, he recruited Alton and Rabon Delmore (later known as Delmore Brothers) for Columbia Records.[5]
He recruited African American musicians, including Robert Hicks, a blues singer who played the guitar.[5] Hornsby, who met Hicks at a barbecue restaurant, named him "Barbecue Bob" and used an image of Hicks in a chef's apron and hat, by a barbecue pit of roasting pork for marketing.[5] He had white bands and performers in recording sessions with Black musicians, which was highly unusuaI
