WSIE has also produced a long list of highly successful broadcasters including Dewayne Staats, the current broadcast voice of the Tampa Bay Rays. On August 1, 2016, WSIE launched its new brand, 88-seven the Sound providing listeners with a rich blend of Jazz, Smooth Jazz, Blues and Easy R&B to create “The Sound.” WSIE is a community supported radio station which much rely upon its listeners and underwriters to maintain operations.

The WSIE Music Series Presents: Deacon Dan - Tribute To Steely Dan is on the schedule for tomorrow evening, 7p - 9p at Old Herald Brewery & Distillery. A suggested $10 donation per entrant benefits WSIE 88.7 The Sound. Don't forget your lawn chair and an umbrella (just in case!).

Music at the Intersection was a total blast!!! Every year, they just keep getting better and better! We are so very grateful to have a music festival that merges several genres of music (Jazz, Blues, Soul, R&B, Hip-Hop and Rock & Roll) and brings together St. Louis-based acts alongside national acts who all have St. Louis connections.

HUGE thanks to the Kranzberg Arts Foundation, The Steward Family Foundation, Ameren Missouri and all of the sponsors for putting their love and support around this vital event and for having WSIE 88.7 The Sound back year after year as a media sponsor!

Also, THANK YOU to all of our WSIE volunteers for dedicating their time to represent us at events like this and for making the station look great!

We've just learned that R&B vocalist Frankie Beverly passed away yesterday.

His voice will never be forgotten, and we will always celebrate his works on WSIE 88.7 The Sound!

Legendary R&B singer and Philadelphia native Frankie Beverly has passed away, his family announced on Instagram Wednesday.

We just received word that Brazilian music legend Sergio Mendes has died today at the age of 83.

His musical contributions are a vital part of the overall sound here at WSIE 88.7 The Sound and he will be missed greatly. Another giant in our musical heritage, gone.

Sergio Mendes, the Grammy-winning Brazilian musician whose hit “Mas Que Nada” made him a global legend, has died after months battling the effects of long COVID.

R.I.P., Ted Drewes!

Ted Drewes Jr., the custodian of Ted Drewes for decades and son of the founder of the iconic St. Louis frozen custard, passed away at age 96 on Monday, Aug. 26.
