The City will install a new water main connection at Walnut Street and 7th Avenue S. that will require the intersection to be closed on Monday, July 22 and Tuesday, July 23. The intersection will re-open to pedestrian and vehicular traffic at the end of the workday on Monday.
On July 23. there will be a water shutoff for the connection. Impacted residents are receiving a door hanger notification on Friday.
After water service is restored, residents may experience air in the lines and discolored water. The City recommends slowly turning on the water faucets for a few minutes until conditions return to normal.
Residents can expect the following impacts during construction:
No thru traffic on Walnut Street from 9th Avenue S to 7th Avenue S
Local vehicle access to driveways will be maintained during work hours
Sidewalk access will be maintained, but pedestrian detours will be in place
Following the reopening of the intersection, the contractor will be installing a new watermain on Walnut Street between 7th and 9th Avenues, as well as 7th Avenue and Cedar Street.
