The Eucharist is the source and summit of our faith. During this Eucharistic revival, here are three Tidings tips to help you grow in love and devotion to the Eucharist:

1. Worthily and Frequently Receiving the Eucharist: Jesus gives Himself to us in the Eucharist as spiritual nourishment because He loves us. By partaking in the Body and Blood of Christ, we unite with His humanity and divinity, transforming our mortal and corruptible natures through the source of life.

2. Silent Adoration: Adoring Christ in the Blessed Sacrament is a natural response to our faith in His real presence in the Eucharist. Jesus awaits us in this sacrament of love. Spend time with Him.

3. Eucharistic Miracles: Our Lord has gifted the Church and the world with many scientifically proven Eucharistic miracles. Explore these miracles online; you will be amazed at what you find. A few examples include the Eucharistic miracles at Legnica, Tixtla, and Buenos Aires.

St. Thomas, also known as "Doubting Thomas," occupies a unique role among Jesus' apostles. While he is famous for his initial skepticism, his journey toward unwavering faith is truly inspiring. He teaches us that doubt is a natural part of faith and genuine belief can emerge from questioning. Known as the "Apostle of the East" for spreading Christianity to distant lands, his life and legacy continue to inspire believers globally. St. Thomas reminds us that even through doubt, faith can find its strongest expression.

Blessed Feast of St. Thomas!

Jesus is truly, really, and substantially present in the Eucharist. Today, we celebrate Corpus Christi, also known as the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. This feast honors the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. Inspired by the visions of St. Juliana of Liège in the 13th century, Pope Urban IV established this universal feast as a reminder of God's incredible gift. The Eucharist is not just the body and blood of Christ but also a symbol of Jesus' love waiting to share His divine life with mere mortals and raise them to divinity. Let us approach this day with hearts full of honor, awe, and overflowing gratitude.

The Feast of the Visitation, celebrated on May 31st in the Catholic Church, celebrates the meeting of Mary, the mother of Jesus, with her elderly cousin Elizabeth, who was pregnant with John the Baptist. According to the Gospel of Luke, after the Annunciation, when Mary learned she would bear the Son of God, she hurried to visit Elizabeth, who greeted her with joy and recognition of Mary’s blessed state. This feast emphasizes the bond between the two women and the meeting of Jesus and John the Baptist in the womb.

On Pentecost Sunday, the Church gathered in the upper room was filled with the power from heaven. As the Holy Spirit descended upon the gathered disciples, Apostle Peter spoke with authority, heralding repentance and the Gospel of Christ. Witnessing the birth of the Church, 3000 souls were added to its fold. He is the third person of the Trinity, the Paraclete, the promise of Jesus. As we celebrate one of the most important feasts of the year, let us unite in prayer, seeking the Spirit's empowerment for our mission ahead. May we be filled with the Spirit of God, just as the disciples were.

Jesus told His disciples: “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses." (Acts 1:8). The Holy Spirit, just as He did at the first Pentecost, frees our hearts chained by fear, empowering us to do the Father’s will. Prepare for Pentecost as you read the compelling article by Deacon Jim McFadden at https://shalomtidings.org/go-and-tell-the-world/

Today, we commemorate the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima, a sacred day on May 13th that reminds us of the very first apparition at Fatima. In 1917, in the quiet town of Fatima, Portugal, the Virgin Mary revealed herself to three shepherd children—Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta. Their encounters, from May to October, carried messages of prayer, repentance, and the path to redemption. As we honor Mother Mary and seek her intercession, we're reminded to embody the virtues of the shepherd children—faith, simplicity, and devotion. Let’s heed the Blessed Mother’s call to prayer and penance.
