BISD School Board President Dies
Longtime board member Erasmo Castro died after a long illness. High School Sports Magazine extends its condolences to his family and Brownsville ISD. “I loved his enthusiasm for athletics, community, and our student athletes. McDonald's All-South Texas Football Team Top Linebackers Announced by High School Sports Magazine...

(McAllen, Texas)-Mission Veterans HS two-time TSWA All-State player, Aiden Uribe leads the list of the 2024 High School Sports Magazine's/McDonald's All-South Texas Football Linebackers selections. Uribe ends his career with 389 tackles with 130 solo tackles with 8 caused fumbles, two interceptions, and six quarterback sacks. Also named to the list is senior Matthew Cano from Edcouch-Elsa HS. The six-foot two-time TSWA All-State senior linebacker finished with 132 tackles and 63 solos with 3QB and 20 hurries. He ended his career with 320 tackles, 155 solo tackles, 17.5 QB sacks, 4 INTs, and 8 caused fumbles. LaMarcus Cullum from Corpus Christi Miller HS also captured honors as the 6'3 210lbs senior finished with 406 career tackles, 192 solo tackles, and 24.0 QB sacks.

McDonald's All-South Texas Kickers, Punters, All-Purpose Players Selected; To Be Honored at Awards Banquet

(Brownsville, Texas)-The McDonald's All-South Texas Football team continues with the top elite kickers, punters, and returners. These players are called "Special Teams". Here are the players that will be invited to the annual High School Sports Magazine's/McDonald's Awards Banquet to be held in Brownsville, Texas on April 25th. All players attending will receive plaques. "We are looking forward to this premier event that will feature Houston Texans All-Pro WR Nico Collins," says HSSM Publisher, David "Touchdown Dave" Amador.
