COVID-19, Evergreen Funeral Home, & Mask Encouragement

With the lifting of the mask mandate in the city/county of Eau Claire, we are still highly encouraging that masks be worn when attending visitations and services. Here is the portion of our guidelines from our website regarding masks:

"Face Masks. Even though there is no longer a mandate in place in the city/county of Eau Claire, we want to keep the families we are serving, other individuals, our staff, and our community safe and healthy. We are still highly encouraging masks be worn, especially if you have not been vaccinated. Families and individuals gather here from all parts of Wisconsin and other states for visitations and services where COVID-19 statistics vary, thus why wearing a mask is encouraged."

Sunday is Valentine's Day. A day we share with others how much we love them. It is something we all need to hear and feel. So do not forget to show yourself some love. Take a few moments, hours, or the whole day to remind yourself that you are special, you are worthy of love, and that you love you. Take a big stretch, wrap your arms around yourself, and give yourself a hug. XOXO
Have a Happy Valentines Day!

It is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. A day to remember a man for not only his words, but his work. Take a moment today, especially with all that is happening in our country yet once again, to reflect and remember his remarkable courage, faith, and passion.

Many of our Thanksgiving tables will not be surrounded with as many family members this year as in years past. Whether due to the loss of a loved one or to COVID-19.

This 2020 year has been filled with so much uncertainty and changes, we should be remindful and thankful for small things that have filled our hearts with love and joy. So take a moment on Thursday to say a thank you for your family and the small things that made you happy this year.

We are thankful for our family and all the families that placed their trust in us to serve them this year. Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving! Jeff and Kelly Beede, owners

In August, over 41,000 depression screeners reported having thoughts of su***de more than half or nearly every day, the highest number we’ve ever seen on MHAScreening.org. Tell Congress that here: [https://bit.ly/2ZG88LQ]

Providing our community personal, professional and caring service has always been forefront in our minds at Evergreen Funeral Home. Staying true to that mindset, we will continue to follow the recommended social distancing (see below) practices in light of the recent WI Supreme Court ruling.

All of us will be experiencing new ways in which we go about our lives in the next days, weeks, and months to come. Evergreen Funeral Home will continue to keep abreast of any changes to local, state, and federal guidelines and recommendations while providing a safe and caring environment for our community to pay tribute to their loves ones.

Please reach out to us if you have any questions. Send us a message, give us a call or send us an email.

Working together will keep our community safe, strong, and healthy.

If we all do our part - safer at home - social distancing - wash our hands - families won’t have to grieve like this.

Take care everyone. Working together, apart, we will get through this.

Grief expert David Kessler takes us by the hand and walks us into what he’s learned about love, loss, and finding meaning in personal and collective grief.

As someone who has a lot of fear about grief and grieving, this conversation is NOT what I expected. The only word I can use to describe what I learned from David is “beautiful.”

Helping people of all ages with grief.
All of us right now are experiencing some sense of grief. In our ever changing days/hours, grief is affecting all of our lives. We have a loss of social interaction, loss of freedom to go where we want when we want, possibly a loss of job, and so much more.
Most adults have ways to cope with this, but our children – probably not. They may seem okay, but may not know how to communicate what they are feeling.
Here is a good way for them (and all of us) to express ourselves right now. Grab a piece of paper and a writing utensil. Have them draw a circle or a couple of them. Ask them (or yourself) to draw a face in the circle showing how they are feeling right now. It might be happy, sad, angry, confused, etc. Encourage them to explain why they are feeling that way. This is hard, but just listen. Encourage their feelings, don’t dismiss or downplay them.
Now, ask them to draw a happy face (if that was not what they drew). Discuss with them what would make them feel happy. Remember their age and that the request might be unable to be done right now. But help them think of things they could do that would bring some happy into their life right now. Keep it real and keep it simple. It doesn’t take much.
I hope you find this helpful! Take care. Kelly
