Karen Read hearing scheduled for 2pm August 9
Happening soon: Another hearing in the Karen Read murder case. Her attorneys are trying to get two charges dismissed: second-degree murder and leaving the scene of a deadly accident.
This comes after multiple jurors have allegedly come forward, telling attorneys they didn’t think Read was guilty of those two charges, but were deadlocked on the manslaughter charge.
A judge declared a mistrial last month after jurors said they couldn’t reach a unanimous verdict.
Read is accused of killing her Boston police officer boyfriend John O’Keefe by hitting him with her car on a snowy January night in 2022.

McKee stands with Biden
I caught up with Gov. Dan McKee before he caught his flight Wednesday afternoon to meet with President Biden and fellow Democratic governors in DC.
“The first thing is I’m going to express support for the president,” he said. “And then the conversation, I believe, with the governors is an important one to make sure that we meet personally with the president so we can come back and report that to the people that live in our state.”
