WERU Quiet Drive 2024
WERU Summer Quiet Drive is going on right now, and it's running through June 28!
Gifts during the Quiet Drive are being matched by a generous donor and friend of WERU, so make a pledge today!
"What is a Quite Drive?!" we hear you cry. Well, it's a membership drive that is entirely silent! That means we won't bother you on the airwaves at all! It is purely through social media, our website, and our mobile app. We don't want to impede your WERU listening experience more than we need to, but we're still asking for your support to help us bring you the important and diverse programing WERU is known for.
You can join the Quiet Drive and support WERU by becoming a member or giving an additional gift online at weru.org/donate.

BREAKING: The Peace & Justice Center of Eastern Maine was vandalized this morning. They have sent out the following message: "As some of you may already know, a large brick was thrown through the windows at 96 Harlow Street which is the location of the Peace And Justice Center. All members of the center and bystanders were unharmed and are safe. The brick traveled through both the outside panes of glass on the street and through an additional window pane in the front of the Peace And Justice Center and the. into the center itself. The brick landed in the center after knocking over a bookshelf and damaging several minor furniture items on its trajectory. Most of the materials in the front of the center have particles and remnants of both large and tiny pieces of glass in them. It is unknown whether or not we will be able to salvage any or all of it.
Associate Director David Patrick was working m in the center at the time of the incident. After witnessing the act of vandalism Mr. Patrick exited the center, spoke with additional witnesses, and pursued the suspect down Harlow Street and to the adjacent parking lot of the Bangor public library. During this pursuit, Mr. Patrick kept a safe distance from the suspect and stayed in direct communication with Bangor law-enforcement via 911. Upon police arrival, the suspect was subsequently arrested. It is the understanding of the Peace & Justice Center and our associate director that the individual in question admitted to vandalizing the property. This individual is currently at Penobscot County Jail with a pending court date of February 12 and a current No Trespass Order to not return, visit, or communicate with the Peace & Justice Center or any businesses located at 96 Harlow Street. More details regarding the individual and the court date will be shared as they become available and when appropriate.
Currently, Peace & Justice Center Consultant Dawn Neptune Adams, Youth Engagement Leader Woli, as well as a communi
