Hugs, thank-yous, tears, and a chorus of honking horns greeted Kristi Hood, proprietor of the Springs General Store, as she closed up shop and took off her apron for the final time on Friday at 4. Ms. Hood has owned the business — turning it into a much-loved community hub — for the past 17 years.

Fire, EMS, and police personnel did a loop around Stony Brook Southampton Hospital to show their appreciation for the doctors, nurses, techs and all of the staff who are risking their lives in the fight against the coronavirus. "I feel it in my lungs, I feel it on my skin. You can taste it," Michael Cinque, the owner of Amagansett Wine and Spirits, said Monday morning.
Twice last week, the dust blowing off the dry farm field just north of Main Street created thick clouds of particulate that swirled over the hamlet. Tonight, the Amagansett Citizens Advisory Meeting is going to discuss the situation.

A spike in drug-related incidents at East Hampton High School this year has spurred officials to organize two forums on the dangers of drugs and addiction — a Spanish-language presentation is up first, happening Thursday at 7 p.m. An English presentation will be held on March 23 at 6 p.m.
