#9 "Chester County Finalist: The Creative Club of Chester County - is a safe space for students and the community to innovate, create, collaborate, and learn skills for today’s digital world in the heart of Coatesville. Coatesville is the only city in Chester County and struggles economically compared to the county. 12% of Coatesville makes less than $25,000 a year. In comparison, fewer than 2 out of 3 families who make less than $25,000 have internet access. The founders, Ben Yocum and CJ Witherspoon, are Coatesville natives and have young children in the Coatesville Area School District. Both individuals formed The Creative Club to unleash opportunity to Coatesville and Chester County youth to receive trainings, tools, equipment, and mentorship to utilize technology to share personal stories and lived experiences. The goal of the Creative Club is to: 1. Educate: Work with other tech-based companies to educate youth. 2. Employment: help bridge the gap between those who have access to technology and those who do not. 3.
