"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus"
-Philippians 4:6-7
"Father, we are an anxious people. We have anxiety about people in our lives, the future, the past, situations in our lives, the state of our country and the state of our world and a host of other things. You have so clearly told us not to be anxious and we know You have only commanded us to do what we cannot do (without Christ) so that we know it is only through Jesus that we can be content. Thank You for the alternative to worry, prayer including thanksgiving in humility acknowledging that we are powerless to accomplish what is laid out before us.
We are not equipped to carry burdens but where we are weak, You are strong enough. Please teach us to cast all our cares upon You because You care for us and not to take them back. Your cross is truly an altar where our burdens can be laid and we can let the power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead also deal with the anxious thoughts that war against us. We crave the peace that comes from loving You and keeps us from stumbling, making our footsteps firm. Thank You for guarding our hearts and our minds. in the name of Your blessed Son, Jesus Christ, amen." -A Good Friend
