Them: “What a great picture of your dog, how did you get him to sit still like that”
Roo: …..

In honor of Roo was good to sit still long enough to get this picture of him with the Colorado Aspens doing their thing!

Roo is my 3rd black lab rescue, and there is a reason why I gravitate towards black dog rescues. There is stereotype with black dogs, especially the bigger ones, and are less likely to be adopted for no other reason than their coloring. The older they are the longer they end up sitting in the shelter. Brutus was my first, he spent 6 months waiting to get adopted when I lived in Oregon. And Roo was the same, he spent 5 months in the shelter.

So today in honor of the big beautiful black pups…. Roo, Chase and Brutus! Share your own pics in the comments :)

Shelter dogs are my favorite breed! 💜

Meet my newest adventure buddy....Roo! 🐾 AKA Roo Dog!

We made it official on Friday and adopted this big sweet crazy boy! He was found as a stray and spent the last 4 1/2 months in the shelter here in Durango. The staff named him “Roo” because he jumps around like a Kangaroo 🤣 I find it hilarious because he is an 80lb big black lab so I am keeping the name! He is a very sweet and loving dog, it’s been an absolute blessing to see his personality come to life knowing he has found his forever home! Roo will need a good amount of work and training, but it’s worth it for me to give him the best life possible!

Thank you to the entire staff at for helping make the adoption process a very easy one!

Roo is about a year and a half old, and full of energy! Really looking forward to exploring the San Juan Mountains with this big crazy boy and making some incredible memories!!! 🏔️ Brutus and Chase will be looking down and will be with us for every one of those adventures 🌈

🚫 Struggling with past fat loss programs? Let’s dive deeper into why they might have fallen short, and how to flip the script for success! 🚫
1️⃣ Self Acceptance: It all starts with embracing where you are now. No shame, no guilt. Trust me, I’ve been there. Starting from a place of self-acceptance gives you a clear picture of the habits you need to cultivate to reach your goals. Remember a time when you felt happier with your fitness and appearance? For me, it was when I was an athlete. What made me successful back then? Having a solid plan, a coach, a supportive team, and clear goals.
2️⃣ Establish a Routine: Fitness and health habits shouldn’t be subject to “when I feel like it.” Make them non-negotiable parts of your daily routine. Whether it’s hitting the gym, moving more throughout the day, reaching 10,000 steps, taking supplements, or tracking your food intake, consistency is key. Once these habits become ingrained, everything else seems to fall into place.
3️⃣ Avoid Program-Hopping: Impatience can be a real stumbling block. Trust me, I’ve been there too. I used to switch programs every couple of weeks if I didn’t see immediate results. Whether it’s the allure of keto, veganism, muscle confusion, or HIIT training, hopping from trend to trend only leads to frustration and stagnation. Stick with a program long enough to see its true effects.
4️⃣ Accountability Matters: The lone wolf approach rarely works. I used to believe I could do it all on my own, but it wasn’t until I had someone or a group holding me accountable that I started seeing real progress. Having a coach, a workout buddy, or a supportive community can make all the difference. The same goes for nutrition – tracking what you eat holds you accountable and leads to better results.
5️⃣ Challenge Limiting Beliefs: Those negative thoughts? They’re holding you back. Fear of failure, underestimating your abilities, sticking to your comfort zone – these beliefs create a mental barrier to success. It’s time to break free. Challenge what you think is possible, step outside your comfort zone, and watch as your true potential unfolds. 💪✨
