This is a long post. It’s been weighing on my heart heavily to post this because someone may need to read it, just as bad as I needed to write it. It’s taken me a LONG time, 32 years to be exact, to figure out the secret to life is not giving a damn. People will judge you. People will whisper about you. People will hate you. And there’s nothing you can do about it.

For a long time I struggled with what people thought of me. I would waste so much time worrying about their opinions of me, and being upset if they didn’t like me. I would bend myself 50 different ways to fit a mold in hopes of satisfying everyone else.
I have hung my worth on other people’s perception of me. I have beat myself up and run myself through the ground over something as silly as how I looked in a photo or video because I’m not a certain size. I’ve critiqued and disapproved telling myself if I was only this size THEN I will be happy, THEN I will be confident, THEN no one will think negatively of me. But why? For what? Societal expectations? Approval? Please. Guess what? YOU don’t need anyone else’s approval.

We all have moments where we start to compare. We all have moments where we stare at ourselves in disappointment. We beat ourselves up over every little thing. We get in our heads and fight like hell to climb back out. You have to understand that there is nothing wrong with you, just because someone doesn’t like something about you. What really matters is whether or not you like yourself.

The truth is, people are idiots. You learn this as you go through life. There are a lot of stupid people out there and a lot of people who will want to see you fail.
You must remember that as****es don’t matter. Their opinions aren’t worth a damn in this world, and by caring what they think, you will only live your life in misery.

Stay focused and happy pursing your own dreams and life that you have zero time to worry about what others think. Stop chasing numbers on a scale and perfection.
Believe me, and I’m speaking to myself when I say this... you are beautiful and perfectly imperfect just the way you are.

You don’t need to live your life following ideal notions of what people WANT to see. Break out of that and just be yourself. The RIGHT people will love you loudly, proudly and publicly for it! - Courtney ❤️
