Indians finish historic football season: Playing in the fourth round of the TSSAA playoffs in front of a large home crowd, Sequatchie County High School was unable to defeat multi-time state title winner Alcoa Friday night. Alcoa led 7-0 after a quarter and built the halftime lead to 31-3, before going on to win 38-3. SCHS forced three turnovers, with two fumbles and an interception, but was held to a long field goal.

Sequatchie County Rescue Squad Captain Michael Scoggins received the Howard Hatcher “Pillar of the Community” Award during the Sequatchie County-Dunlap Chamber of Commerce meeting November 26. Indians advance to Class 3A final four: After driving 83 yards for a score to push a one-point advantage to 35-27 midway through the fourth quarter, SCHS football stopped Meigs with an end zone interception with 1:24 left. The Indians ran out the final seconds of the quarterfinal win and advance to next week’s Class 3A semifinal vs Alcoa, also at home. The winner moves on to the state championship game.
