A little Grinch action today on the waterfront in Duluth. And since Mr. Grinch is working on a tug, we must believe this is after his heart grew three sizes. Thanks for the seasonal post, Paul.

The Grinch who Stole the Missouri! Taking it out for a joyride to wave at all the people on the Duluth Piers before assisting the BBC Michigan arriving Duluth this Friday mid afternoon!

A tug at work braving the ice. Plucky "little" boats compared to those they aid. Thanks for the post, David.

This is the time of year when broken ice creates interesting patterns, especially when viewed from above with a hint of snow cover. Tug Missouri assisting the Johanna G this afternoon. Duluth, MN - December 5, 2024

“Burrrrrr, It’s Cold Out There”

Good morning! I stepped outside this morning, and came back in real fast. It was just enough time to put a bit of seed out for the birds and get chilled to the bone. My fault - being dressed in PJ’s doesn’t cut it with these winds. LOL

But I did notice that some shore ice is forming on the beach as well as creating some thin ice sheets that are floating around. I suspect that the flock of about 10 Mallards that have been hanging around, will take the hint and start to head to where it is warmer.

Stay warm and stay safe.

Off to work. Thanks for the post, Adam.

2022 Picturesque winter arrival:

Two years ago today, the Arthur M. Anderson made one of the most photogenic arrivals I've captured. She picked up anchor and emerged from a thick blanket of surface level sea smoke. Air temperature was just above 0 with windchills of -15. On top of the colors of sunrise, a flock of both Seagulls and Goldeneyes flew into frame. Forever honored that this shot won me the Anne and Litton Field Photography Award at the Minnesota State Fair Fine Arts Exhibition!
