The Wheeler County Eagle has merged with The Montgomery Monitor and The Soperton News into one publication, The Tri-County Connector! Please like our new page: The Tri-County Connector

We are still in the process of setting up the new account as well as our new website, www.tricountyconnector.com. This page will no longer be maintained, and we ask all followers to please like the new page as soon as possible to avoid missing out on important news in the Tri-County community!

We are excited to announce that The Wheeler County Eagle, The Montgomery Monitor, and The Soperton News are merging into one publication, the Tri-County Connector!

We will still publish every Wednesday. No current subscriptions will need any changes. If you currently subscribe to one or more of these papers, the length of your subscription will be updated to reflect the amount of time for which you've already paid.

Important dates for Wheeler County: January 2020

The Glenwood City Council will convene at Glenwood City Hall at 7:30 p.m. tonight for its regular meeting.

The Wheeler County NAACP will convene at Alamo Chapel on Thursday at 7 p.m. for a called meeting.

The Wheeler County Board of Education will convene at the BOE office at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, for its regular meeting.

The Wheeler County Chamber of Commerce will convene at the chamber office on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 6 p.m. for its regular meeting.

The Wheeler County NAACP will hold its annual Martin Luther King Jr. March on MLK Day, Monday, Jan. 20. The march will begin at Alamo Chapel at 9:30 a.m.

The Alamo City Council will convene at Alamo City Hall on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 6 p.m. for its regular meeting.

The Wheeler County Eagle is looking for freelance writers! We need your help covering the county and providing our readership with timely, informative news.

We have a strong preference for writers who reside in Wheeler County, and we pay for both articles and photos. You must be able to submit at least one article and one set of photos per week as necessary.

The aforementioned articles must be about newsworthy events taking place in Wheeler County. Events include but are not limited to school events, government meetings, sports games, business-related functions and human interest happenings. Writers may pitch their own story ideas to the editor or be assigned a story at the editor's discretion.
