7 day Family-Friendly itinerary in Nerja, Spain! 🇪🇸
✍🏼 Save for future planning

Day 1 – Arrival & Stroll
Arrive in Nerja, settle in, and walk to the Balcón de Europa for sunset views. Dinner nearby at Gloria Bendita or Bar Redondo.

Day 2 – Town & Beaches
Explore the old town, grab ice cream at Valenciano’s, then relax at Playa La Caletilla. Afternoon at lively Playa Burriana with paella at Ayo’s. Evening tapas in town.

Day 3 – Nerja Caves & Hidden Beaches
Take the tourist train to the Cuevas de Nerja. Afternoon swim at Playa El Salón or Playa Calahonda. Dinner at a beachside chiringuito.

Day 4 – Frigiliana
Short drive to this whitewashed village. Wander cobbled streets, shop artisan stalls, and enjoy lunch with a view. Return to Nerja for pool or beach time.

Day 5 – Kayak & Maro
Morning kayak or paddleboard tour along Maro-Cerro Gordo cliffs and sea caves. Afternoon swim at Playa de Maro.

Day 6 – Málaga or Granada
Option 1: Málaga — explore the Picasso Museum, Alcazaba, and stroll Muelle Uno.
Option 2: Granada — visit the Alhambra & Generalife Gardens (book ahead) and wander Albaicín.

Day 7 – Chill & Farewell
Relaxed morning, last shopping in Nerja’s old town. Swim at a favorite cove like La Caletilla. Farewell dinner at Oliva.

✨ Tips: Nerja is walkable, but rent a car for day trips. Best eats include Gloria Bendita, Bar Redondo, Oliva, and Ayo. For groceries, Mercadona is nearby. Don’t miss hidden beaches like Calahonda and El Salón.

Day 1: Arrival + Drive to Vík
Land in Keflavík, grab your rental, and head to Vík (2.5 hrs). Settle into Hotel Vík—close to grocery & brewpub.
🛏 Overnight in Vík
Day 2: Black Sand Beach & Dyrhólaey
Explore Reynisfjara’s black sand beach, basalt columns, and caves. Visit Dyrhólaey for lighthouse views.
🛏 Overnight in Vík
Day 3: Glacier Walk
Take a family glacier walk on Sólheimajökull (ages 8+). Ice gear + epic fun. Relax the rest of the day.

Day 4: Waterfalls + Golden Circle
Visit Skógafoss & Seljalandsfoss (walk behind it!). Continue to Hotel Gullfoss near the Golden Circle.

Day 5: Geysir + Gullfoss
See Strokkur erupt at the Geysir area, then visit mighty Gullfoss. Optional hot spring soak.

One month down, two to go! Here are some highlights from our first month living in Italy 🇮🇹😍

If you’re new here, hi! 👋🏼 we’re an American family who prides ourselves on flexibility, so that we can travel the world for months at a time. Last year, we spent most of the year in Bali, Greece, and the UK, and now we’re in Italy! Our kids are enrolled in school here while we work remotely and soak in la dolce vita.
