We solute Jimmy's Jazz & Blues Club for providing a stage, and an industrial marketing machine, to local artists looking to show the Seacoast's music lovers that they don't have to go far to enjoy world-class talent; the area has it in spades! We believe that few regions have the volume per capita of mind-blowing musical talent, and we can back up that belief; we present Foreside Funk - Monday Night Local Artist Series to you.

Foreside Funk is a selectively picked group, some of the area's finest, coordinated and led by a saxophone-wielding powerhouse by the name Stefan Vittori, whom many of you already know. The group's song list is as impressive as their ability to play it, and you should really make time this coming Monday evening to check it out. Bring your dancing shoes, or simply a desire to sit and melt away the stresses of the world that have clung to you, and enjoy the magic of this funk brigade from outer space. Thank you to those who reached out to let us know Venmo was having an issue, they assure us it has been fixed. We greatly appreciate the recent donations, but we need thousands more over the next month to bring this website online, so if you can and haven’t already (or maybe for a second time ;) throw us a bill for helping to create the platform that will bring you the most complete coverage of this incredible arts community. More meaningful than fame and riches, more important than awards and acknowledgments, and more impactful than sold-out tours, is the work being done by greats within this community, enabling artists to 'pass the light' to the next generation of artists and creative thinkers. We commend Creative Guts hosts Laura Harper Lake and Sarah Wrightsman for doing the work to create a platform that enables that to happen, for bringing in greats like Lindsay Paige Garfield and Jon Nolan to share with the kids their experiences in, and love for, music, and for helping to highlight a sentiment that we think most artists feel; popularity doesn't rule over the compulsion to create art. When it's pure, popularity doesn't enter the equation, it's all about genuine expression.

Devastation rings through the community of musicians and artists throughout the Seacoast today, as another beloved venue is set to close. Those within the community will now, again, scatter to the remaining stages, a shrinking number, and the silver lining is that this will cause another swirl, or mixing of those creators within the scene. It’s not a huge positive, but there’s enough negative to go around, and we need to all work to find the positive and magnify it.

Thank you to the staff of Book&Bar, to the owners for giving it as long a run as they could, and we hope a less expensive piece of real estate emerges and you try it again. We’ll be there for you if you do.
