Lets talk about money lines in the church, which I hate personally and has never did them!!!!
When we hear “money lines in church,” it is likely referring to when pastors or ministers call people to the front in separate “money lines” — for example, asking for $100, $50, or $20 offerings, often with promises of specific blessings tied to each amount.
Let’s look at that biblically and spiritually:
What “Money Lines” in Church Are
These are moments during offerings or fundraising when a pastor says things like:
“Everyone with $100 come forward — this seed will unlock a special blessing.”
or
“Those who give $1,000 will receive a financial breakthrough.”
While the intent might be to encourage giving, the practice itself raises serious biblical and ethical concerns.
What the Bible Teaches About Giving
1. Giving Should Be Willing, Not Pressured
• 2 Corinthians 9:7 (NIV) –
“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
• God looks at the heart behind the gift, not the amount or line you stand in.
2. God’s Blessing Is Not for Sale
• Acts 8:18–20 –
Simon tried to buy the power of the Holy Spirit, and Peter rebuked him saying,
“May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money!”
• This shows that spiritual favor cannot be purchased with offerings.
3. Equality in Giving
• Mark 12:41–44 – The widow’s two small coins were worth more to God than the rich giving large amounts, because she gave from her heart.
• God values sacrifice and sincerity, not show or status.
⚠️ The Problem with “Money Lines”
• They create pressure and manipulation, making people feel that blessings depend on the size of their gift.
• They can distort God’s character, implying He only blesses those who can afford large offerings.
• They often exploit emotional moments in worship rather than teaching true stewardship and faith.
A Biblical Way to Teach Giving
True, biblical giving should be:
• From the heart, not for show.
• In faith, trusting God’s provision, not trying to buy favor.
• In secret or humility, not public comparison (Matthew 6:1–4).
• With purpose, supporting ministry, helping the poor, and advancing God’s Kingdom.
Lastly;
“Money lines” in church — where people are called by dollar amount for specific blessings — are not biblical.
They are man-made practices that can easily slip into manipulation or “prosperity gospel” abuse.
God honors faithful, willing, and honest giving, not the size of the envelope or the line you stand in.
When giving pray about what you’re giving and who you are giving to, because not every minister is of God and not every service is ordained by God. People have learned how to trick and manipulate people into giving money. Be led by God and his discernment in these days and times we are in.
