Although our crews have been hard at work clearing parking lots today, the Farmington R-7 School District will unfortunately remain closed tomorrow, Monday, January 13, 2025. While progress has been made, many roads are still not in the best condition, and tonight's low temperatures are expected to cause a refreeze, creating additional safety concerns. We understand the challenges of students being out of school and want to assure our families that we are making every effort to return to a regular schedule. However, the safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. Stay safe and warm, Knights!

This is the home that was lost on Buck Mountain early this morning...A young single father and his son lost everything in a fire last night including their car and are needing help...
Felina Hommelson is collecting for them and hand delivering with no fees from Go fund me. She has PayPal, venmo and Cash app.
There is also a Go fund me account set up for them.

Roads conditions are continuing to deteriorate and multiple accidents are being reported across the county. Please stay home if you can, and drive with extreme caution if you must be out.

A winter weather advisory has just been issued for our area starting tomorrow evening. Many area roadways are still ice packed, and added snow will make them increasingly slick. Please use caution when driving.

PSA from Post Office...
Hey folks, we ( the post office) would like to ask for your help . If possible can you please check your mailbox and make sure it is unfrozen. We have received no mail from St. Louis for 2 days. It is all expected tomorrow. So we will have a challenging day. You can only imagine if the carrier has to de ice 500 boxes. It will increase delivery time significantly. So if everyone could handle their own it would be extremely helpful. Thank You

Since midnight last night at onset of the winter storm, Doe Run Fire Protection District personnel have responded to 22 calls for service. Many times having to cut their way through downed trees to get to the address needed.

Personnel are still responding to multiple calls for trees and powerlines down. We urge you for your safety and the safety of utility and emergency crews to please stay home and allow crews to work.

There are many lines down that may still be live. Please do not attempt to go near or cross powerlines.

If you run a generator, please make sure you turn off your main breaker to your home. A generator can backfeed power lines and potentially kill a lineman. Just a safety tip !
