Dixon High School Academic Decathlon Team has been competing over the past month. They began with an essay when we returned from Winter break, followed by tests in seven different subjects last Saturday, and a speech and interview competition.

We had several individual awards:
Kirsten Donovan: silver medals in art and science
Sierra Fong: bronze medal in economics
Aaron Reyes: bronze medal in art
Ariana Cuevas Meza: gold medals in both speech and interview

In addition, we had our strongest overall team performance in many years. Our super quiz team (this is kind of like a game show with questions from various subject areas) finished in 3rd place. This team included Ariana Cuevas Meza, Aaron Reyes, Sierra Fong, Andres Tejeda-Patino, Ben Hale, Kurtis Westerhaus and Pedro Romo. This was the first team award we have won in many years. Overall, we finished 7th out of 16 schools from throughout the greater Bay Area.

Additional participants in the overall competition included Diego Gonzalez, Sam Lopez and Jaya Wartson.

Mr. Vlach and Ms. Sundstedt are very proud of their performance this year. Make sure to congratulate these students if you see them, and we are always looking for new members for next year!

Tuvimos varios premios individuales:
