Update 320pm... Breck Resort responds, via VP and COO Jon Copeland:

Summit County, Colorado has had extreme cold temperatures. As a result, some of our team members in employee housing have experienced heat and hot water issues.

This is completely unacceptable, and mechanical work is in progress to address that. We have offered alternate lodging to every person on our team who is impacted, and we are waiving their housing fees for this time.

We have had some Breckenridge team members call in sick today, and we support anyone on our team who needs to take the day off to care for their health or who needs to relocate to the alternate lodging that we are providing. Breckenridge Ski Resort is open and operating today.

As always, current lift and terrain status is available on the website, including the current weather hold on our Imperial lift.

Lesh jury deliberating late into Friday. Here's the argument so far, verdict pending...

Question is: Did David Lesh (the influencer and his own worst enemy) assault another guy on a sledding trip here in Summit, or was the other guy unhinged and this is self defense?

Deputy district attorney Lauren Crisera argues LESH was itching for a fight when he met a group of friends and acquaintances on a snowmobile trip northeast of Silverthorne in March 2023. In the group was Joel White, the alleged victim. He saw Lesh as a reckless bully who selfishly thought he “owned the backcountry.”

Lesh’s attorney, Colleen Kelley, argues WHITE was itching for a fight. She cited his recent “freak outs” and “erratic and uncontrolled behavior,” including a verbal thrashing directed at Lesh in Leadville before the Summit fight.

White testified on Wednesday and admitted to a history of outbursts, which he attributed to frustration, not anger.

The case hinges on video evidence, but not from Lesh this time. (In recent years he has been busted for jumping his snowmobile at the closed Keystone terrain park – he posted the proof to his personal Instagram – and illegally riding on closed terrain at Independence Pass.)

The damning video this time comes from White’s GoPro camera. It shows the two trading verbal barbs before Lesh lunges at White, knocking them both to the ground. You hear some things.

But the camera was jostled around and captured only audio from the fight itself, which calls into question whether Lesh put White in a chokehold.

Not many people can confirm what they saw happening on the ground. Even witnesses. But we see photos of bloody faces, allegedly from this fight.
