MEDIA RELEASE:

I94 MM 249 - STUTSMAN COUNTY - A 1997 Chevrolet Suburban was eastbound on Interstate 94 when it lost control after being passed by a semi-truck. The Chevrolet left the roadway, rolled, and came to rest on its side in standing water. The Chevrolet was occupied by one adult driver and seven juvenile passengers, ages ranging from 5-11 years old of Cleveland, ND.

Following a search by first responders, the 7- and 10-year-old male passengers were located and pronounced deceased at the scene. All other occupants were transported to the Jamestown Regional Medical Center by Jamestown Area Ambulance. One passenger was then life-flighted by Sanford AirMed to Sanford Hospital in Fargo. The driver was transported by Jamestown Area Ambulance to Sanford Hospital in Fargo.

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The name of the driver will be released later today; the names of the juveniles will not be release.

🚨 **CRIME ALERT** 🚨

“Lock it Or Lose It” - Within the past several weeks, numerous stolen vehicles have been reported to the Dickinson PD. In most all cases, the keys were left in the ignition.

We would like to emphasize to the public the importance of removing keys from your vehicles and locking them when unattended. In addition, do not place valuables in plain view.

With an ounce of prevention, we can reduce the likelihood of vehicles getting into the wrong hands!

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for parts of western and central North Dakota until midnight including the following counties:

In North Central ND - McHenry, Pierce and Ward

In South Central ND - Burleigh, Emmons, Grant, Kidder, McLean, Mercer, Morton, Oliver, Sheridan, Sioux & Wells

In Southwest ND - Dunn, Hettinger and Stark

This thunderstorm will be capable of producing hail up to the size of golf balls, gusty wind and heavy rain.

UPDATE - LEITA HAS BEEN SAFELY LOCATED!
Leita was found with family members in northern Arkansas.

Sheriff Jesse Jahner of Cass County appreciates the cooperation and assistance from the public and the partnering agencies. Sheriff Jahner advised, “This was a great team effort amongst partnering agencies and our office, and I appreciate the number of hours all authorities put forth to help locate Leita.”

Congratulations to all for this team effort, we are grateful for the safe conclusion.

A Silver Alert is being issued by North Dakota Highway Patrol and ND Bureau Criminal Investigation at the request of the Cass County Sherriff's Department.

Leita Golden of Arthur, North Dakota is a 48 year old white female vulnerable adult. She is 5 feet 0 inches tall, weighs 105 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes.

Her last known whereabouts were on 7/5/2024 at 12:45 pm in Arthur.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Leita was last seen wearing a blue jacket, a grey t-shirt, black sweatpants, and white tennis shoes with black tongues.

A few showers and thunderstorms will be around this morning, but more intense storms are expected to develop this afternoon.

Isolated to scattered severe thunderstorms are expected across the area beginning around 3 pm this afternoon. The storms will move eastward, with the maximum severe weather risk from about 5 pm to 9 pm. The main hazards with any severe storms will be large hail up to ping pong ball size and damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph.
