Tigers Riley Greene and Zach McKinstry have won Silver Slugger awards. The last Detroit player to win one was Miguel Cabrera in 2016.

The awards go to the top hitter at each position, voted on by MLB managers and coaches. Greene won one of three AL outfielder awards and McKinstry won the AL utility honor.

The Dallas Cowboys announced that defensive end Marshawn Kneeland, a Michigan native who attended Western Michigan University, has died at the age of 24.
