Spin Inc. is a Detroit community base program design to provide Djing and Music Production knowledge for children, preteens and young adults.

The school welcome students in the heart of Detroit, at DIME Music School, and at Submerge starting May 2017. Spin Inc., DJ/Electronic music production school welcomes students interested in learning the art of DJing and music production in the birthplace of techno music, Detroit. The school was founded by Detroit DJs who wanted to share the tremendous musical knowledge of Detroit with both studen

ts from all over the world and Detroit's children and young adults. Since its creation in 2015, the DJ school has hosted several master classes and workshops, taught by Detroit musical figures such as Juan Atkins, Stacey “Hott Waxx” Hale, Scott Gordon, Ben Casey (Ableton), DJ Head or DJ Recloose to name a few. Classes are held at DIME (Detroit Institute of Music Education) in Downtown Detroit, and will be held at Submerge on E. Grand Boulevard starting May 2017. A new space for the Spin Inc. is also being built at the Alkebulan Village Community Center in the Eastside of Detroit, which also allows Spin Inc. to teach DJing and music production to the children of Detroit. Spin Inc., also have a partnership with LoftDJ school in Santiago, Chile that is helping with the development of DEMC (Detroit Electronic Music Camp). DEMC will happen from the 15th to the 26th of May 2017 at DIME Detroit & Submerge with many Detroit artists involved including Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Mike Banks, Amp Fiddler, DJ Minx to name a few.

Our Story

Spin Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) entity and non-profit organization, committed to teaching students the art of deejaying and music production in the birthplace of Techno music: Detroit. The school was founded by Detroit DJs who wanted to share the tremendous musical knowledge of Detroit with local youth to empower them into productive, musical careers. This learning translated to young adults from within and beyond Detroit's illustrious borders as well: we are committed to sharing the awesome knowledge and expertise of our local artists.

Since its creation in 2015, the Spin Inc has hosted many Masterclasses and workshops, taught by Detroit musical figures such as Juan Atkins, Stacey “Hotwaxx” Hale, Scott “Go-Go” Gordon, Ben Casey (Ableton), DJ Head and DJ Recloose, to name a few. Classes are held privately, at the DSA (Detroit School of the Arts) and online, in observance of social distancing recommendations.

Spin Inc been instrumental in sponsoring an annual music workshop, the Detroit Electronic Music Conference (DEMC). The DEMC 2020 is scheduled July 28th -July 31st, 2020, and will feature a combined virtual/live format. Many Detroit artists will be involved including: John Collins (UR), Stacey “Hotwaxx” Hale, Scott “Go-Go” Gordon (Deep Space Radio), Mike Fotias (Audio Rescue Team), and many others. This dynamic 4 day series will feature FREE online workshops and masterclasses from Ableton, Allen & Heath, Melodics, Reloop, Roland, Serato Studio, Sweetwater, and others.
