IAAP Detroit Chapter

This just summed up my early 80s working career:
-MTM Designing Women Moonlighting, LA Law and Murphy Brown were my absolute GO TO shows. I worked with a Don Draper type war veteran insurance guy they by pushing out to pasture who had an incredible book of business and every morning I would make an excuse to say, “Oh Mr. Gra-a-a-ant” to him and that just made his day and his secretary’s blood boil😂.
-I hated Ally McBeal-I thought her skirts were too short and her double entendres and innuendo were so unnecessary;
-There was a dress code at work;
-I had magazine subscriptions to Working Woman and Working Mother (these were MY mentors)
-Mommy Track was a buzz word
-My senior capstone in undergrad was Women in Management
These things helped me navigate my Corporate with things NO one told me.

The times have changed.

Proceeds from the 3rd Annual Hats and Pearls Springtime Tea Party will benefit the Summer Etiquette and Golf Camp initiative sponsored by Edwards Etiquette at Chandler and Rouge Park Golf Courses for children age 7 to 12 years old.

For a number of years I worked with this lady at the local and Division levels of the IAAP (International Association of Administrative Professionals). She was always so engaged and tuned in to the needs and interests of the Administrative profession. She served at the Michigan Division level and worked with me as President to put the Detroit Chapter back on the map from the brink of disbandment. She was an admin at Comerica Bank and we often shared similar war stories. She was very encouraging and always asked about the book I threatened to write and being "Right Arm to the Boss".
When the organization went from chapters to LANs, I didnt get to see her as much as I would have liked, but we kept in touch via likes and comments occasionally here on Facebook. Rest well Missy
