Christmas Food Box Project 2024
"I want to express my sincere gratitude to the sponsors who have made it possible for 16 years to support our community when they need it most: during harsh winters, when jobs are scarce, and when families struggle to feed their loved ones with limited resources. In those critical times, we are here to lend a hand.
That is why I am deeply grateful to our sponsors, who have allowed us to provide food boxes to approximately 300 families this past Saturday, December 14, 2024. Small Business Appreciation and Recognition Dinner 2024
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, a time to honor the rich contributions of individuals with roots in Spain, Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Spanish-speaking Caribbean, we are delighted to present the Small Business Appreciation and Recognition Dinner.
This annual event is dedicated to celebrating the vital role that small businesses play in our community and economy. We are especially proud to recognize the significant contributions of minority-owned businesses, particularly those led by Hispanic entrepreneurs, whose impact continues to shape our region.
Held in the prestigious Diego Rivera Room at the Detroit Institute of Arts, a space renowned for its historical and cultural importance, the setting was truly befitting. Rivera’s murals, which grace the walls, symbolize the enduring values of innovation and dedication, reflecting the spirit of small business owners across Michigan.
The evening gathered over 150 business and community leaders from across the Detroit metropolitan area, providing an invaluable opportunity for networking, collaboration, and professional engagement.
We were deeply honored by your presence at this distinguished occasion, which highlights the unity and strength found in the diversity of Southeast Michigan, and celebrates the remarkable achievements of immigrants, BIPOC communities, and small business entrepreneurs.

Ramón Luis Díaz , conocido como popularmente como “Wicho”, es un empresario mexicano que radica en Detroit, Michigan.
“Wicho Díaz es una persona trabajadora, responsable, respetuosa que no se intimida hacia nada y que por más que esté caído, va a encontrar la forma de levantarse,” expresó Wicho Díaz en entrevista, es una persona que ha sabido lo que es trabajar desde temprana edad ya que a los 8 años comenzó a vender dulces en la escuela en la que estudiaba: “Yo soy de un pueblo que se llama San Ignacio Cerro Gordo, en Jalisco, y mi infancia fue lo mejor porque éramos muy felices y al momento que vas creciendo te vas dando cuenta de que no sólo es jugar, me tocó crecer rápido porque a la edad de 8 años mi papá se enfermó y tuvimos que trabajar duro porque no teníamos ni siquiera para una paleta, mi mamá me decía ‘si tú quieres traer dinero, ponte a vender dulces en la escuela’, y así empecé” y continuó: “a los 12 años me fui a la Ciudad de México a trabajar en tiendas de abarrotes, fue un golpe muy duro para mi mamá pero en ese momento yo no lo entendí, gracias a eso pude desarrollarme más rápido y a la edad de 15 años decidí venirme a Estados Unidos con la creencia de buscar algo mejor, sin saber a dónde iba, pero al momento de llegar me di cuenta de que hay billes que hay que pagar y si no trabajas, nadie te va a dar nada”.
Tras una invitacion por parte de sus amigos y una mochila llena de sueños, llega a Estados Unidos en un invierno del 98’, su primer trabajo fue de ayudante de albanil: “Aquí llegué con Chava y su familia, mi primer trabajo fue de ayudante de albañil, era muy pesado, recuerdo que hasta lloré. Yo tenía 15 años, a esa edad todavía eres un niño, y yo no sabía que para ir a trabajar tenía que llevarme doble pantalón, doble calcetines, porque era muy frío. Mi primer cheque que tuve quería mandarlo todo a mi mamá, en México, para que se sint
