Clutter triggers me in the worst way — toys scattered across the living room rug, clothes piled on the bedroom floor, papers hogging precious table

Fast tip for the day: Set your timer for 5 or 10 minutes and clean out your email. Do this a little bit whenever you can.

Fast tip for the day: Keep a baggie near your jewelry. When you are ready to let go, place the jewelry in the baggie. Next time you take clothes to a donation place, take the baggie.

Have you read, The ONE Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results by Gary Keller and Jay Papasan? It is a very easy read. I heard about this book from Lisa Woodruff from Organize 365. The best takeaway that I've gotten from this book so far (I'm on page 67) is this quote: "What's the ONE Thing you can do this week such that by doing it everything else would be easier or unnecessary?"

My ONE thing is make all of my husband's salads for the week on Sunday. All of the mess is done at once, clean up is done at once, thinking about it is done at once. Another ONE Thing I do is to measure out my protein shakes all at once (I do 7 days worth). I have at least 6 dry ingredients in each shake. I measure each day's worth into separate small containers. When I'm ready for my morning shake I dump it in the blender. No thinking required. No daily mess to clean up. Do you notice a pattern here? I hate to clean up cooking messes. 😉

What is ONE Thing you can do to make your life easier?

Benefits of my work--I get to hold cute dogs. While helping my client get her organization's FB up and running, I got to hold a very friendly Chihuahua named Taco.

Happy Holidays, everyone. I hope you are getting what you need from the season thus far.

I am in the middle of straightening my own space. My craft space to be exact. I just threw away a Cricut mat. It was hard for me to do--they are reusable and kind of pricey. However, I asked myself this question: "When I need it, will I be able to use it?" The answer was no. There was paper stuck to it that made it impossible to use. Even though it is something that probably could have been cleaned and made useable again, I knew that I would not take the time to do that. Especially not in time when I would need it again.

Lesson here: Ask yourself, regardless of where you are organizing, "The next time I grab this item, will I want it/be able to use it?" If the answer is no, go ahead and get rid of it NOW.

More items that create visual clutter:
Jewelry you aren't wearing--give. it. away!
Electronics that are out of date or are broken.
Clothes that are in need of repair, too small/large, or out of date.
Kitchen utensils that you don't use.
Bathroom soaps, bath salts you will never use.

Make your life easier, get rid of the clutter!
If you need help in getting rid of that clutter contact me. I'd love to help you.

When you see some thing your brain asks, "Does that need to be put away? Is it broken? Does it need to be fixed? Should I throw it away?" and on and on. If you can eliminate anything from your sight, that is one less question your brain asks.

The other day I noticed an open mayonnaise jar in my fridge. We are not eating mayonnaise anymore. Even though it had not expired, we were not going to eat it. I just went ahead and got rid of it. Now that space can be used for something I will eat and my brain doesn't have to process looking at that jar.

If you are going on vacation and plan on sending postcards, I have a time-saving tip for you. Does anyone still send postcards anymore? I do because I like to scrapbook my travels. For those of you who do send postcards, I have a trick to make sending them easier. I preprint labels of the addresses of the people I want to send a postcard to, including myself--it's like a travel log plus I get the card back stamped. I tend to select the cards where the photography is spectacular; something I would not be able to do myself. This is especially interesting if you are traveling out of the country.

When I am ready to send the card I write my message (using a Sharpie marker that I take with me) and all I have to do is place the mailing address on the postcard.

I hope that helps the 5 or so people out there in the world that still sends postcards!
