A traffic crash shut down westbound Devon Avenue at Somerset Lane in Elk Grove Village for a little less than two hours during Thursday (Jan. 9) evening’s rush hour.

They replaced sewers under Tonne Road, here's what's coming next.

Last year it was water main replacements that caused traffic tie-ups on Tonne Road, the major four-lane arterial route that runs along the western edge of the Elk Grove Business Park. In 2025 it will be a complete rebuilding of the roadway.

Although water from Elk Grove taps may be cloudy, village officials say it is safe to drink.

If Elk Grove residents notice a slight haze to the water coming from their taps, that's just the Chicago Dept. of Water Management (CDWM) and Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) updating their corrosion control protocols. Village officials say the water is safe to drink.
