People travel from all over to shop at Faith & Begorra to prepare for their Communion - how lucky are we that it’s right downtown? We shopped here in preparation for our own kids’ big day years ago, and it was a great experience. One-on-one assistance and dress fitting, and we left with a real beauty.

As your childs’ big day approaches, Susan and her team are ready for you. They have over 1000 dresses in stock, boys suits, and all the accessories, including veils, shoes, jewelry and more. They’re open seven days a week, and even have evening appointments available - give them a call at 973-625-0070.

A year ago yesterday, opened up in downtown Denville! Laurel’s shop of vintage treasures was previously located in Boonton, hut we’re happy she chose Denville when she made her move. Little known fact, she actually used to have a store in Denville on Bloomfield Avenue many years ago!

Time’s Tin Cup occupies two floors of a house-turned-store, and you never know what you’ll find when you visit. Whether it’s costume jewelry, antique furniture, unique items for entertaining or treasured books, there is something for everyone. In the warmer months, inventory expands to fill the garden area in the backyard as well.

Pop in and browse and give them a follow at - you never know what you’ll discover!

Although it is disappointing to see so many trees cleared lately to make way for new developments, we are slowly starting to see some benefits from the new Tree Replacement Ordinance that went into effect last year in Denville. Property owners and developers are required to replace a certain percentage of trees being removed on larger sites.  If they are unable to replace them, they can pay into a tree fund or replace trees on Township property.  This ordinance allows the fund to pay for new trees, maintain healthy trees, remove dead trees (which was recently done at McCarter Park), removing trees that have fallen into our rivers, purchase tree maintenance equipment and preserve open space.

To date, Denville Township has received $425,500 and anticipate an upcoming additional $210,000.  As of now, the Township has planted 72 trees in our parks and grounds with these tree funds, and similar plantings are planned over the next few years.  Going forward, they plan to continue to plant and maintain just using the interest earned in the account as future deposits will eventually slow down.

Dave Sipple, Chairman of the Denville Beautification Committee, made the tree selections with input from the Environmental Commission at locations determined by the Township Administration.

The newly planted trees are at a variety of places all over town, including Gardner Field, Todd Johnson Field, Town Hall, Cooks Pond, Muriel Hepner Park, the Denville Library, Veterans Memorial Park , and the West Main Parking lot. Careful selection was made for each location, and a variety of different trees were chosen.

It seems Winter is ready to start wintering … here’s what we know (and with any weather-related news, it’s always subject to change):
❄️ the Denville Police department would like to remind you that you MUST remove all vehicles from snow covered roadways as per L.O. 550-10. Otherwise you run the risk of it being towed, which would be a bummer.
❄️ snow is forecasted Sunday afternoon/evening
❄️ totals may shift, but as of now they’re calling for 4-8”

Get your paths cleared as soon as you can, help out neighbors who may need it, and don’t forget to get your bread and milk from the grocery store. ✌🏻

If you do not remove your vehicle from a snow covered roadway, it may be towed at the owner’s expense.

The sessions will cover various topics like criminal and constitutional law relating to arrest, search and seizure; patrol techniques; drug trends; and use of force, including running through scenarios in a fi****ms training simulator. Classes will incorporate an interactive format, providing participants with a “hands-on” experience. Graduates will gain an awareness of the services provided by the police department with the goal of becoming ambassadors for the law enforcement community.

It’s not the first time someone won a nice chunk of change from a lottery ticket purchased in town, and it certainly won’t be the last.

Last Friday, Mega Millions tickets sold in Morris, Somerset, Hudson, Bergen and Essex Counties matched four numbers and the gold megaball winning $10,000.

The winning tickets were sold at Jay Cee’s on First Avenue in Denville, and five other locations. Congratulations to the lucky winners!
