Have you ever wondered what the best-selling song of all time is? You might be surprised to learn it’s actually a Christmas song!

White Christmas, written by American composer Irving Berlin and performed by Bing Crosby, has sold over 50 million copies, making it the best-selling single of all time. First featured in the 1942 film ‘Holiday Inn’, the song later won the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 15th Academy Awards.

Its heartfelt lyrics and cozy melody captured the spirit of hope during World War II, making it a seasonal favorite ever since. While many artists have covered the song, most of those record-breaking sales still come from Crosby’s iconic recording.

On this day, December 6th, 1877, Thomas Edison demonstrated his invention, the phonograph, a groundbreaking device that could both record and reproduce sound.
Edison’s first successful recording was his recitation of “Mary Had a Little Lamb.” This achievement astonished the scientific community and the public alike, as no one had previously imagined a way to capture and replay sound.

Over the following decades, the device was refined and became a cornerstone of modern music and audio recording. Edison himself referred to the invention as his favorite, calling it the “talking machine.”
This innovation was pivotal not just for music but also for oral history, dictation, and communication technologies that followed.

On this day, November 29th, 1965, The Rolling Stones performed their first-ever concert in Colorado at Denver’s Coliseum.

In a memorable twist, Colorado Governor John Love declared November 29 as “Rolling Stones Day” to mark the occasion (despite some public controversy around the band’s edgy image and wild reputation). The Stones’ show and the governor’s proclamation underscored the cultural impact the band was having in the U.S. as they continued to solidify their legacy as rock icons. This unique “Rolling Stones Day” became a celebrated moment in Colorado’s rock history.

On this day, November 22nd, 1968, The Beatles released the “White Album.” Officially titled The Beatles, this double album became one of the band’s most iconic releases and featured a huge range of styles, from rock to folk to experimental sounds.

Remarkably, it was released on the exact five-year anniversary of their “With the Beatles” album, marking a significant evolution in the band’s sound and creative vision. The White Album’s minimalist cover design and musical diversity underscored how much they had transformed in just half a decade, moving from catchy pop hits to bold, eclectic experimentation.
