Hang onto your hats today!

Winds will increase in the mountains and foothills today. Gusts in the 50 to 75 mph range will be common on the east slopes of the Front Range late today and tonight. Gusts up to 90 mph are possible in wind prone locations.

High temperatures will reach the mid to upper 50s the next 3 days, approaching 60°!
Next week we will sore into the mid to upper 60s with Wednesday approaching 70°!

Skies clearing up over the Denver metro area while snow continues over the Palmer Divice and adjacent plains and I25 corridor from just south of Denver down to Trinidad!
Snow will clear up within the next few hours
However heavy snow is currently falling between Colorado Springs and Castle Rock, along that treacherous Monument Hill stretch, traffic will be affected!
I70 WB is closed at Watkins with slow moving traffic along the entirety of I70 out towards Flagger

Drive safe!

Confidence is increasing that the highest amount of snowfall will be in the Palmer Divide. Some areas could see more snowfall depending on the exact track of the system.

Some of the models have backed down sending most of the snow along the Palmer Divide and Central Foothills near Pikes Peak.
We could see...
T-3" in the Denver Metro Area
Less the more north you live, and higher the more south.

4-8" Along I25 from Castle Rock south headed towards Colorado Springs.

2-4” around the Colorado Springs area

I am not expecting much north of Denver along I25 and Wyoming.

A Winter Weather Advisory will go in effect tonight for parts of the Palmer Divide which includes Castle Rock and the drive along the or down towards Colorado for the possibility of up to 6”+ 
Expect slow driving conditions tomorrow morning along I25 out of Denver or north of The Springs.

Still a little uncertainty with this storm which could have us ending on the higher end of things, with snow totals of 3-6" across the Denver Metro Area.

Timing:
Snow will begin around after midnight and will increase into the morning hours, trickling out of the Denver Metro Area after 7-8am lingering in Aurora/Parker

Completely out of here by noon tomorrow.

It’s looking pretty nice this week with our temperatures progressively increasing through throughout the week. There is a chance for some snow showers mid week however, the weekend is looking very nice and warm with our temperatures nearing 60°!

Snow showers will possible tonight and Sunday with not too much to worry about here along the Urban Corridor. 1-3” may be possible in the Denver metro area, and a tad higher with snow up to 6” in the western Subburbs.
Boulder may see up to 8” is some areas!

I am currently eyeing a storm next weekend that could bring some more snow that may actually disrupt things around town. But stay tuned for that!

Wow this is incredible!

Check out these historic snowfall totals across the Gulf Coast Region with up to a foot of snow in two areas: southeast Louisiana including New Orleans and also the Florida Panhandle into extreme southwestern Georgia. The Low Country of the Carolinas underperformed a bit due to mixing in with sleet.

It is absolutely gonna feel the coldest it’s felt all weekend! Definitely bundle up if you have to venture out in the cold tonight into tomorrow morning. We will hit our coldest temp tonight between 11pm to midnight with windchill values down to -25° in the Denver metro area. Luckily we will warm up to a wapping 30° by noon with the high topping out in the lower 40s

School districts like the Adams 12 Schools will have a delayed start due to cold temperatures! Stay warm everyone!

Here’s your official Weather Dog Forecast for the week on 1/20!

It’s going to remain pretty frigid today into tomorrow as we finally ride out of the sub freezing temperatures! But not by much! We have a slight warm up on Friday before more cold weather moves in for the weekend. Stay safe and stay warm everyone!

Very cold temperatures are expected tonight but even colder temperatures and wind chill can be expected tomorrow night into Tuesday morning!
We can see windchill values as low as -25° in the city and even colder is some other locations!

The mountain communities may see wind chill values down to -50°!

The cold will prevail across the region today with highs in the mid to upper teens and lows in the negative single digits! Wind Chill Values during the coldest time periods may reach -15° or even lower in some locations!
An additional round of snow is possible this afternoon/evening resulting in 1-2”

Tomorrow we will remain bitterly cold, but Tuesday we will finally rise above the sub freezing temperatures!
