Plenty went wrong during the game but with a fair amount of hindsight it's easy to attribute some of that to lack of preparation. They dominated St Louis for a period then played even until a buzzer be**er from Nazem Kadri got them 2 points. Dallas didn't show up for Wednesday's game but the Avs sure did. Draft planning for the Colorado Avalanche will look a lot different and not just because of the world crisis but because they do not hold a top pick in this draft. As of now the Avs do still own their first round selection but how the picks are ordered in the back half of the first round has yet to be determined though safe to assume the Avs will select no earlier than 20th overall. The latest word on the street is each team will face limits of a 50-person travel party and a roster of 28 skaters plus unlimited goaltenders. It was expected that Nick Henry would need a period of adjustment and time to work his way up the lineup in the AHL with the Colorado Eagles in his first professional season. What transpired however is a tale all too familiar to those that don’t enter the Colorado Avalanche prospect system with priority. After his selection at 94th overall in the 2017 NHL entry draft Henry finished up a successful WHL career with the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the spring of 2019 and joined the Eagles on an amateur try-out agreement.
