🎥: William Anders, a former NASA Astronaut and a member of the 1968 Apollo 8 crew has died in a plane crash in Washington State after not being able to recover the plane in what appeared to be a stunt. He was 90 years old. 07 June 2024. Anders was commissioned in the US Air Force, and served as a fighter pilot in all-weather interception squadrons of the Air Defense Command in California and IcelandAnders and fellow astronauts Jim Lovell and mission commander Frank Borman flew aboard the first lunar orbit mission in December 1968 on Apollo 8. US Marines apart of the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) conduct beach landing operations with Republic of Korea (ROK) forces in "Ssang Yong 23". March 2023The main event was an amphibious assault exercise consisting of nine ROK ships alongside the USS Makin Island, USS Anchorage, and USS John P. Murtha, as well as surface and air connectors from both U.S. and ROK amphibious forces. Over 2500 Marines participated in this operation and 3000 ROK soldiers, with around 70 aircraft including attack helicopters, V-22 Osprey transports, F-35A Lightning II's and F-35B stealth fighters above. 50 South Korean amphibious assault vehicles also took part. Around 30 British Royal Marines also participated for the first time by conducting reconnaissance from mountain observation posts.
