Protect yourself and your home if the power goes out during these cold temperatures that are expected throughout Alabama.

-Keep freezers and refrigerators closed. Throw away any food that has been exposed to temperatures 40 degrees or higher for two hours or more, or that has an unusual odor, color or texture.
- If you use a generator, ONLY use it outdoors and away from windows.
- Disconnect appliances and electronics to avoid damage from electrical surges.
- Do not use a gas stove or oven to heat your home.
- Go to a community location with power if cold is extreme and you can’t heat your home.
- Have alternate plans for refrigerating medicines or using power-dependent medical devices.

City Hall will be closed Tuesday. The Council meeting for Tuesday is canceled. As soon as I know about garbage service I will post, but assume that it will be at least a day behind this week.

No matter what we get it is going to be extremely cold for awhile. Stay weather aware for the next few days.

Stay warm!
