November 5, 2024, please vote YES for the Demopolis City Schools - 5 mill tax renewal. Note: This is NOT a new tax. Demopolis has been paying this one for 30 years and it has to be voted on to be renewed for another 30 years.

This tax provides approximately $1,000,000.00 per year for the DCS school system. Many of the athletics' expenses (maintenance, fields, some coaching stipends, etc), as well as facilities (all buildings) maintenance are provided through this tax since the State Department of Education does not allocate those type expenses. It also provides funds to help pay for teachers that are not funded by state allocations.
Please share this information with your family, friends, neighbors, churches, groups, etc. We NEED this 5 mill tax to be renewed.

The Alabama Forestry Commission (AFC) has issued a Fire Danger Advisory for Marengo County until significant rainfall is received. Marengo County was one of 22 counties where abnormally warm and dry conditions leading into November will result in increasing wildfire potential and resistance to control, particularly in forests impacted by drought and beetle kill.

The Demopolis Tigers were tested in the first two weeks of the season by Mountain Brook and Class 4A No. 1 Jackson. While the Tigers weren’t able to pull out the upset in either game, it appears like it prepared the Tigers for region play. Since those two games the Tigers have rolled off four straight wins to take sole possession of Class 5A, Region 3 first place. All of the wins in region play have been convincing wins, including a dominating win over Shelby County last week, who didn’t have a region loss prior to playing Demopolis.
