Courtesy of Monroe Township Police DepartmentRyan Borkowski was the 13th chief of police for the Monroe Township Police Department. He took his leave on Feb. 28.

For Monroe Police Chief Ryan Borkowski, it was all smiles and fist pumps as he walked out the door for the final time after a 27-year career in law enforcement.

On the police radio, his career was highlighted during his retirement last call on Feb. 28, and with that, the dispatcher stated he will be missed and, "For the final time, you are off radio."

He was met by his wife, Leslie, and a sea of blue on his sendoff. It was just last year to the date that Borkowski became the 13th chief of the department after Craig Monahan retired.

"Today marks a significant moment in my career, one that fills me with both pride and humility," the new chief remarked at the time.

Photos courtesy of Kim Brown Steve Brown, who was diagnosed with ALS in 2016, celebrates a recent birthday with the whole family.

Steve and Kim Brown’s love story begins at the back seat of a school bus on the way to the Burlington County Institute of Technology (BCIT).

“We ended up sharing it,” Kim recalled with a laugh.

Kim had just moved to Southampton with her family from Marlton and was attending BCIT with a focus on graphic design. Steve grew up in Mount Laurel and also attended BCIT to focus on auto body.

They began dating after Steve decided to yell out that bus window.

"I was telling a friend that Rob had asked me out today,” Kim remembered. "He was yelling to tell him that we were together. I started laughing. He was yelling.

"He was serious."

It was junior year of high school - and that was it.
