A resident group's petition for a referendum regarding the proposed Northwood development has been denied by the City of Delaware, which claims its city charter prohibits acceptance of the referendum.

Asked by The Gazette to elaborate on which part of the charter prohibits the referendum, the City of Delaware declined to specify.

Neighboring residents of the contentious Northwood mixed-use residential development aren’t going down without a fight, but an attempt to get a referendum on the November ballot has been denied by the City of Delaware, leaving them with limited options moving forward.
