Why Consume Carrot In The Morning?

When it comes to digestion in the morning, consuming carrots as the first food of the day may have some increased benefits for optimum vitamin and mineral absorption in the stomach versus consuming a carrot in the evening, for instance.

When it comes to the uptake of essential vitamins and minerals, the stomach is likely to be empty first thing in the morning so will absorb everything it’s given more efficiently.

However, the carrot may be better juiced in the morning, as opposed to just eating it raw!!

Try it whizzed up with a thumbnail of ginger and a small amount of pure orange juice for a superfood shot.

What Do Carrots Contain That’s So Good For You?

It is no surprise to learn that these tiny orange powerhouses pack an awful lot of health benefits into such a small vegetable!

One serving of carrots (which is around a half-cup measure) contains approximately:

25 calories

6 grams of carbohydrates

2 grams of fiber

3 grams of sugar

0.5 grams of protein

Carrots have an abundance of vitamins and minerals too. The same half-cup measure can give you:

Up to 73% RDA of vitamin A

Up to 9% RDA of vitamin K

Up to 8% RDA of potassium and fiber

Up to 5% RDA of vitamin C

Up to 2% RDA of calcium and iron

(Data referenced From Web MD)

Carrots are also a powerhouse ingredient when it comes to containing antioxidants. With a high proportion of beta-carotene and lutein, they are a fantastic power ingredient when it comes to protecting the body.

Over the past year, the Black community in the USA has witnessed significant cultural, social, and economic trends that reflect both progress and persistent challenges. One notable trend has been the surge in Black entrepreneurship, with a record number of Black-owned businesses being established across various industries. This growth has been fueled by a renewed focus on economic empowerment within the community, supported by initiatives like the Buy Black movement and increased access to venture capital for minority entrepreneurs. Additionally, Black creators and influencers have continued to dominate social media platforms, leveraging their cultural influence to drive social change and promote Black excellence in arts, fashion, and entertainment.

On the social front, the fight for racial justice remains at the forefront, with sustained activism and advocacy leading to meaningful changes in policy and public awareness. The Black Lives Matter movement, now in its second decade, has continued to galvanize support and highlight issues of police brutality and systemic racism. Education and voter engagement have also seen a significant uptick, with Black communities mobilizing to increase voter turnout and advocate for educational equity. However, despite these advancements, the community still grapples with economic disparities, healthcare inequities, and the impacts of gentrification, underscoring the need for ongoing efforts to achieve true equality and justice.

In an eye-opening analysis by Julia Haines at U.S. News, it was revealed that racial disparities in management positions persist across the United States, with Black and Hispanic workers being significantly underrepresented. Shockingly, while over 12.5% of white workers hold management positions, only 7% of Black and Hispanic workers reach these roles. This stark disparity highlights the ongoing struggles Black professionals face in climbing the corporate ladder, a sobering reminder of the systemic barriers that still exist in the workplace.

Even among the best states for racial equality in management, such as West Virginia and New Mexico, the differences are glaring. For instance, in Florida, 13% of white workers are in management, compared to a mere 6% of Black workers. This data underscores a harsh reality: Black and Hispanic workers must contend with a job market where their chances of advancing to management are consistently lower than their white counterparts, making the quest for true racial equality in the workplace an urgent and ongoing battle.

Black Americans continue to face a staggering reality of systemic barriers and slow progress despite decades of civil rights advancements. The latest "State of Black America" report from the National Urban League paints a grim picture: the racial income gap remains virtually unchanged for over 20 years, with Black Americans earning just 64% of what their white counterparts make. Even in education, Black students are still disadvantaged, often taught by uncertified and inexperienced teachers. Political participation has also seen a troubling decline, with voter turnout dropping significantly since 2002. Marc Morial, President of the National Urban League, expressed his disappointment, stating, "I would have thought we would have been much further along than we are in 2024."

The report highlights that at the current rate, it could take centuries for Black Americans to achieve parity with white Americans. Despite some strides, such as a decrease in Black student dropout rates and an increase in Black leadership roles, efforts are hampered by legal challenges and public backlash against diversity initiatives. The Biden administration's policies have shown some progress, yet fall short of promises made to Black Americans. Morial calls for renewed efforts to confront voter suppression and civil rights threats, emphasizing the urgency of the situation as the community commemorates historic struggles for equality.

Shockwaves are rippling through the Black community as the beloved Red Lobster chain abruptly shuts down dozens of locations across the nation without warning. In a stunning move, Red Lobster left countless employees in the lurch, many of whom had no idea their jobs were disappearing overnight. The sudden closures have sparked outrage and potential lawsuits under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act. Attorney Sarah Foss highlighted that the chain’s failure to notify employees could result in significant legal battles, while some former workers, like , took to social media to express their devastation, recounting how they lost their jobs without any forewarning, even after working on Mother's Day.

This unforeseen shutdown, which could lead to Red Lobster filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, has cast a shadow of uncertainty over its future. Despite efforts to revive the struggling chain with initiatives like the "Ultimate Endless Shrimp" deal, which disastrously backfired, Red Lobster's financial woes have only deepened. The popular promotion intended to draw in crowds ended up contributing to an $11 million loss in a single quarter. As the seafood giant faces potential legal repercussions and financial restructuring, the ripple effects are profoundly felt, leaving employees and loyal customers alike grappling with the abrupt end of an era.
