Oh my Lord! How do you make Batman blush? Well, Miss Iris whispered to Batman, “Please kiss me on the lips Batman!!!!” WOW, they don’t mess around at this Senior Centre. Haha!

Thank you to Big Lou, Frank, Maria and of course Miss Iris and all the beautiful Seniors for a wonderful new memory at Harbour Chase Daytona Beach.

Okay, it’s one of my long stories but well worth it!

Oh my God, it couldn't have gone any better yesterday. We went to two different places and encountered nearly 100 Seniors. I realize some of you may be questioning why Batman and not Santa at this time of year. For starters, I don't have a Santa suit and besides I'm really good friends with Batman. Not one of the seniors questioned that. Instead, they were so appreciative and happy for the surprise and company. They kept asking for Robin, Batgirl, The Joker and all the rest.

We had the absolute best time ever. My heart is just so full of joy right now and can't wait till tomorrow as we'll be going to two other places.

Here was the opening line for them, "Santa is very busy at The North Pole with last minute preparations for Christmas so he called on his pal Batman to spread a little holiday cheer and love with all the good boys and girls here at your beautiful Senior Centre."

All the people Batman encountered were just so special and friendly. Two ladies at the first place we went to said this was the best party in the four years they've been there.

So many wanted to take pictures with Batman. Sonny and Frank, 80-85 years old, shook Batman's hand so hard. He said, "Are you trying to break Batman's hand?" Sonny said, "You should have felt my grip 40 years ago Batman."

One of my favorites by far was this beautiful lady in her 80's or 90's with the friendliest smile. She asked Batman to come sit beside her as she's in a wheelchair. She explained she was a Ballerina when she was younger. She said, "I'd love a dance with you Batman, but I can no longer stand." He replied, "Batman would be honored to dance with you."

He stood up beside her and asked for her hand and said, "May I have this dance?" Then he made a motion as if he was twirling her underneath his arm while slowly circling her wheelchair. She started crying and it was so touching, and she was happy.

Another guy played football for 17 years and said those injuries put him in the home. Someone said he was a Superhero. Batman asked what he did for a living and he said he was a former lifeguard in Daytona Beach for over 20 years and said he did 176 rescues during his tenure. Now that's a real superhero!

"Doc" was another character. A former dentist and he asked Batman to open his mouth to inspect his teeth. He said Batman is doing a good job on brushing, and has a follow up appointment in six months. Haha!

Three glamour girl seniors invited Batman to sit at their table and one said she wanted a picture of all of us. Her girlfriend said we'd have to wait until she fixes her hair and make up. Batman said to her she looked fine and reminded him of his Mom with her Christmas ornament earrings and beautiful cookie house sweater.

Lovely people! They were happy for the company, fun and were so thankful for coming.

Three of the servers wanted their pictures with Batman too. Batman suggested to their activities coordinator that down the road he'll come back and those three servers could also dress up as superheroes for one day at lunch just for the fun of it and serve the guests while all dressed in character.

Just like at my Dad's Senior Living Centre in Toronto, all these folks want is company. They don't want money, they want company. Family, friends, someone to sit with them and visit for a while while they tell their stories. And boy do they have some interesting and great stories to tell. Those were just a few examples from a very magical day.

I am so happy after seeing all those smiling faces and can not wait to go to a couple other places tomorrow on Christmas Eve. Who knows, maybe Santa will return the favor on Halloween. Haha!

“Santa’s Magical Footprints,” it’s a family tradition.

For decades, Santa’s magical footprints have been showing up from the edge of our driveway all the way to our front door on Christmas morning. In fact, when our kids were young, they even went right up to our kids beds, where Santa’s reindeer, Rudolph, even left bits of chewed up carrots.

Some say it just kind of looks like baby powder around the outline of a pair of work boots, but in reality we all know it’s really Santa’s Magical Footprints. Santa still leaves them even though our kids are young adults now.
