I'm exceptionally lucky in that many of my long-time collaborators, also happen to be some of my very best friends. Last evening I worked with three of them photographing a Kettering Health Network awards presentation.

When we're together, we call ourselves "The Squints" (because you know, as you take a photograph, you close one eye… and squint). My fellow Squints are Lee Ann Yahle, Jay Herndon and Chris Snyder. Great friends and also some of the best photographers I've ever had the privilege of working with.

Of course I must mention that the Squints and I not only work Dayton events, we've also traveled from Atlanta to San Diego supporting trade shows, association meetings, and numerous corporate presentations.

We've been on location at the Hobart Institute of Welding Technology, for a little over a month, capturing footage for a new video training program. There's still a lot of work to do, but soon, HIWT will release 32 videos designed to help teach students the basics of TIG welding.

32 videos takes an experienced production crew and a talented team of welders. Here's a shout out to Stephen, JC, Jeremy, Jay, Eric and Ray for all of their hard work over the past several weeks.

Here's a "Throwback Thursday" video from the Monell Communications archives!

Extraterrestrial Highway was produced a few years back to promote a trade show held in fabulous Las Vegas. Sent to several thousand attendees prior to the event, the animated short played off the somewhat mysterious roadway that leads to "Sin City".

And in case you're wondering, YES, we're still at it. In fact, this spring and summer, Monell Comm will be producing videos and other media for a number of events, including conventions and incentive trips.

We get asked to shoot video or photography of interesting people and events all the time, and never know who our next project might require us to interview, or where a shoot might take us. It’s one of the most exciting aspects of the job.

Here are two images from our latest location shoot… the Western and Southern Tennis Open held recently in Cincinnati, Ohio. Be sure to click on the photos to view them at full resolution.

Tennis fans may recognize World Champion Rafael Nadal and two-time Major Champion Caroline Garcia.

Camera buffs may enjoy knowing that the images were shot on Canon’s new R5, using a 200mm lens, at 1/3000 of a second, an f-stop of 9.0, and ISO of 2,000.

A totally unexpected project, and while challenging, lot’s of fun.

Monell Comm just finished a location shoot for EWI Worldwide, a marketing house that creates exhibits, events and immersive experiences for numerous well-known organizations.

Our task was to document the rollout of the 2023 ZO6 Corvette at several Cincinnati Chevrolet dealerships, and even though the weather was less than cooperative, we were able to capture a few awesome images.

Thanks to the entire EWI crew for a great shoot!
