Dayton Christmas at the Courthouse🎄
Join us this holiday season for this year’s production of It’s a Wonderful Life at 2 p.m. on Dec. 7th at Christmas at the Courthouse in downtown Dayton.
This beloved holiday classic will come to life in the form of a 1940's radio theater production sponsored jointly by the Rhea Heritage Preservation Foundation and the Tennessee Valley Theatre.
It’s a Wonderful Life is a 1946 American Christmas drama produced and directed by Frank Capra, who was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Director.
It is based on the short story and booklet, The Greatest Gift, self-published by Philip Van Doren Stern in 1943, which itself is loosely based on the 1843 Charles Dickens novella, A Christmas Carol.
Although it was nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and Jimmy Stewart for Best Actor, It’s a Wonderful Life initially received mixed reviews and was unsuccessful at the box office. It’s a Wonderful Life is now considered to be one of the greatest films of all time and among the best Christmas films.
