YET ANOTHER CASE OF A SENIOR CITIZEN SAVING HERSELF FROM A CRIMINAL WITHOUT FIRING A SHOT
Gun Control Groups Won’t Count This As A Defensive Gun Use Because No Shots Were Fired And No One Was Killed

Last night, a woman in her seventies caught a man burglarizing her residence in the Ferndale area and held him at gunpoint until the Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies could arrive at her rural home and assist her.

According to Samantha Karges, spokesperson for the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department, about 9:19 p.m, deputies were sent to a reported burglary in progress at a home in the 700 block of Poole Road.

Karges told us, “Deputies arrived on scene and observed a 74-year-old an elderly female in possession of a firearm, detaining a male suspect. The resident complied with deputies’ requests to set aside the weapon and the firearm was rendered safe.”

Deputies took the suspect, whom Karges identified as 21-year-old Dustin Beau Campbell into custody.

"While inside the home, the resident located Campbell. At that time, the resident drew her personal firearm, holding Campbell at gunpoint until deputies’ arrival."

This year has seen the largest increase ever in the number of concealed handgun permit holders—more than two million, for a total of 21.52 million. That is a 48 percent increase since 2016. On Wednesday, the U.S. Supreme Court heard the case of NYSRPA v. Bruen, which has a chance to further increase this total and make permitting rules more similar across states.

Six states now have more than 1 million permit holders: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Texas. Florida is the first state to have more than 2.5 million permits. Alabama has the highest rate of adults with permits, at 32.1 percent. Indiana is second, with 21.6 percent. By contrast, New Jersey and Hawaii both have rates of less than 0.1 percent.

So many claims by gun control advocates like Justice Stephen Breyer are about things that might go wrong, but we don’t need to guess.
